The Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) banknotes are issued and printed by Bank Indonesia, the nation’s central bank, while coins are minted by Perum Peruri, the state-owned mint. The current Rupiah banknote series features advanced security features such as watermarks, color-shifting ink, security threads, and embossed printing to prevent counterfeiting and ensure authenticity.
Older Rupiah series that have been withdrawn from circulation are no longer legal tender and cannot be exchanged at Bank Indonesia, as the official redemption period ended in 2018.
